Exodus 17:1-16 show how God provide water for Israel from rock and help dem win war against Amalek with Moses' hands raised.
1. Di whole Israelite people journey from di Wilderness of Sin, according to di commandment of di Lord, and camp at Rephidim: and dere was no water for di people to drink.
2. Therefore di people quarrel wit Moses, say, "Give us water to drink." And Moses say to dem, "Why you quarrel wit me? Why you tempt di Lord?"
3. Di people thirst dere for water; and dey complain against Moses, say, "Why you bring us out of Egypt, to kill us and our children and our cattle wit thirst?"
4. Moses cry to di Lord, say, "What I go do wit dis people? They almost ready to stone me."
5. And di Lord said to Moses, "Go before di people, and take wit you of di elders of Israel; and thy rod wherewith thou smote di river, take in thy hand, and go.
6. Behold, I will stand before thee dere upon di rock in Horeb; and thou shalt smite di rock, and water shall come out of it, that di people may drink." And Moses did so in di sight of di elders of Israel.
7. And he called the name of di place Massah, and Meribah, because of di chiding of di children of Israel, and because they tempted di Lord, saying, "Is di Lord among us or not?"
8. Then came Amalek, and fought against Israel in Rephidim.
9. And Moses said unto Joshua, "Choose us out men, and go out, fight with Amalek: tomorrow I will stand on top of di hill with di rod of God in my hand."
10. So Joshua did as Moses had said to him, and fought with Amalek: and Moses, Aaron, and Hur went up to di top of di hill.
11. And it came to pass, when Moses held up his hand, that Israel prevailed: and when he let down his hand, Amalek prevailed.
12. But Moses' hands were heavy; and dey took a stone, and put it under him, and he sat dereon; and Aaron and Hur stayed up his hands, di one on one side, and di other on di other side; and his hands were steady until di going down of di sun.
13. And Joshua discomfited Amalek and his people with the edge of the sword.
14. And the Lord said unto Moses, "Write dis for a memorial in a book, and rehearse it in di ears of Joshua: for I will utterly put out di remembrance of Amalek from under heaven."
15. And Moses built an altar, and called the name of it Jehovahnissi:
16. For he said, "Because the Lord hath sworn that di Lord will have war with Amalek from generation to generation."
