Genesis 42:1-38 talk about how Jacob sons go Egypt for food during famine. Joseph accuse dem of being spies, causing fear for Benjamin.
1. When Jacob hear say food dey Egypt, e tell e pikin dem say, "Why una dey look each other like dis?"
2. E say, "I hear say food dey Egypt. Make una go buy for us so we no go die because of hunger."
3. So, Joseph ten brothers go Egypt go buy food.
4. But Jacob no allow Benjamin, Joseph small brother, follow dem because e fear say something bad fit happen to am.
5. So di sons of Israel join people wey dey go Egypt to buy food because hunger don full everywhere.
6. That time, Joseph na di governor of Egypt, na him dey sell food give people. When e brothers reach, dem bow down to am.
7. As Joseph see dem, e sabi say na e brothers, but e no let dem know. E ask dem: "Where una from?"
8. Dem say, "We come from Canaan to buy food."
9. Joseph remember di dream wey e dream about dem before. But e tell dem say, "Una be spies! Una don come check di weak part of di land."
10. Dem reply, "No be so, oga. We be your servants, we come buy food."
11. "We all be di same papa pikin dem. We no be spies."
12. But Joseph tell dem, "Lie-lie! Una don come spy di land."
13. Dem say, "We be twelve brothers, di same papa born us. One of us don die, and di last born dey with our papa for Canaan."
14. Joseph say, "Na so I go take test una. As Pharaoh dey alive, I no go allow una go unless una bring di last born come."
15. "One of una go back, go carry una small brother come. Di rest go remain here, so we go see whether una dey talk true."
16. E put dem for prison for three days.
17. On di third day, Joseph tell dem, "If una want live, do wetin I tell una because I dey fear God."
18. "If una dey honest, make one person remain here, di rest go carry food go give una family."
19. "But una must bring una small brother come back so I go believe una no be spies."
20. Di brothers begin reason di matter say, "We dey suffer because of wetin we do Joseph. We see as e dey beg us, but we no hear."
21. Reuben tell dem, "I tell una say make we no sin against di boy, but una no hear. Now, see as e blood dey punish us."
22. Dem no know say Joseph sabi wetin dem dey talk because he use interpreter dey talk with dem.
23. Joseph waka comot from dem go cry. When e return, e pick Simeon and tie am in front of dem.
24. Joseph command make dem put food inside dem sack, return dem money inside di sack, and give dem food for journey.
25. As dem dey road, one of dem open e sack to give e donkey food, e see him money inside di sack.
26. E tell e brothers say, "See my money don return inside my sack!" All of dem fear.
27. When dem reach house, dem tell dia papa wetin happen.
28. Dem say, "Di man wey be Egypt oga talk to us like say we be spies.
29. We tell am say we be twelve brothers, one don die, and di last one dey with our papa."
30. "Di man come say make we bring di last one come before e go believe say we no be spies."
31. "E say make we leave one person and go back with food, but make we return with di small brother."
32. As dem pour food from dem sack, dem see say di money still dey inside. Dem and dia papa begin fear.
33. Jacob shout, "Una don make me lose my pikin dem! Joseph don lost, now Simeon no dey, and una wan carry Benjamin join!"
34. "Everything don dey against me!"
35. Reuben tell am, "Make you put my two pikin for ground if I no bring Benjamin back. Just trust me with am."
36. But Jacob talk say, "My pikin no go follow una. E only brother don die. If anything happen to am, una go kill me with sorrow."
37. "I no fit take dis risk."
38. "I go rather die dan make hunger finish us."
