Genesis 24:1-67 talk about how Abraham servant find Rebekah as wife for Isaac, guided by God's direction, and she agree to marry him.
1. Abraham don old well well, and God don bless am for everything.
2. One day, Abraham call him chief servant, wey be di oldest for him house, wey dey in charge of all him property. Abraham tell am say, “Put your hand under my thigh,
3. Make you swear by di Lord, di God of heaven and earth, say you no go find wife for my son from di daughters of di Canaanites wey dey live for here.
4. Instead, go my homeland, go my people, find wife for my son Isaac.”
5. Di servant ask, “Wetin if di woman no wan follow me come dis land? I go fit carry your son go back to di place wey you come from?”
6. Abraham answer, “No carry my son go back dia!
7. Di Lord, di God of heaven, wey take me comot from my father house and di land of my birth, don swear give me say, ‘I go give dis land to your descendants.’ He go send him angel before you so you fit find wife for my son from dia.
8. But if di woman no wan follow you, you no go dey under dis oath. Just no carry my son go back dia.”
9. So di servant put him hand under Abraham thigh and swear say he go do wetin Abraham don talk.
10. Di servant pack ten of him master camels, carry plenty gifts, and go to Nahor town for Mesopotamia.
11. When he reach dia, he make di camels kneel down near di well outside di town for evening, di time wey women dey come fetch water.
12. He pray, “O Lord, God of my master Abraham, I beg, give me success today and show kindness to my master.
13. I dey stand here near di well, and di daughters of di people of di town dey come fetch water.
14. I go say to one of dem, ‘Make you drop your jar so I fit drink.’ If she answer, ‘Drink, and I go give your camels water too,’ make dat be di one wey you don choose for your servant Isaac. By dis, I go know say you don show kindness to my master.”
15. Before he finish to pray, Rebekah, wey be di daughter of Bethuel, son of Milkah (wey be di wife of Abraham brother, Nahor), carry jar for her shoulder, come out.
16. Rebekah fine well well, she never marry before. She go down di well, fill her jar, and come up.
17. Di servant run meet her and say, “I beg, give me small water from your jar.”
18. She answer, “Drink, my lord,” and quickly lower di jar for her hand make he drink.
19. After she give him water, she say, “I go fetch water for your camels until dem drink tire.”
20. She quickly empty her jar into di trough and run go di well to fetch more water until all di camels drink finish.
21. Di servant dey look her in silence, dey wonder if di Lord don make him journey successful.
22. When di camels don drink finish, di servant take gold nose ring and two gold bangles, give her.
23. He ask, “Who be your papa? And you get space for your house make we fit sleep?”
24. She answer, “I be di daughter of Bethuel, di son of Milkah wey born am for Nahor.
25. We get plenty straw and feed for camels, and space for una to sleep.”
26. Di man bow down and worship di Lord.
27. He say, “Praise di Lord, di God of my master Abraham! He no comot him kindness and faithfulness from my master. As for me, di Lord don lead me straight to my master relatives.”
28. Rebekah run go her mama house go tell everything wey don happen.
29. Her brother, Laban, see di gifts wey dey her hand and run go meet di man near di well.
30. Laban tell di man, “Come, you dey welcome. I don prepare space for you and di camels.”
31. Di servant follow Laban go house, and dem unload di camels. Dem give straw and feed to di camels and bring water for di servant and di people wey follow am make dem wash dia feet.
32. But di servant say, “I no go eat until I talk wetin carry me come.” Laban answer, “Talk your mind.”
33. Di servant begin tell di story of how God don bless Abraham and send him come find wife for Isaac. He explain how Rebekah be di answer to di prayer.
34-49. He tell dem everything wey happen for di well, di prayer wey he pray, and how Rebekah fulfill di sign wey he ask God for.
50. Laban and Bethuel answer, “Dis na God hand work. We no fit say anything bad or good.
51. Rebekah dey your hand; carry her go so she go marry your master son, as di Lord don talk.”
52. Di servant bow down and worship God again.
53. He bring gifts of gold, silver, and clothes, give Rebekah and her family.
54. Dem chop, drink, and sleep. Di next morning, di servant say, “Make I dey go back to my master.”
55. But Rebekah family beg make she stay ten more days before she go.
56. Di servant insist, “No delay me. God don bless my journey; make I go back to my master.”
57. Dem call Rebekah and ask her, “You wan go with dis man?” She answer, “Yes, I wan go.”
58. So dem bless Rebekah and send her with di servant.
59. As she dey go, dem bless her say, “Our sister, may you become di mama of thousands of descendants, and may your descendants conquer di cities of dia enemies.”
60. Rebekah and her maids mount di camels and follow di servant.
61. Isaac dey for di field dey meditate when he see camels dey come.
62. Rebekah see Isaac and ask di servant, “Who be dat man wey dey walk for di field to meet us?” Di servant answer, “Na my master.”
63. Rebekah cover her face with veil.
64. Di servant tell Isaac everything wey happen.
65. Isaac bring Rebekah into him mama Sarah tent. He marry her, and she become him wife, and he love her. Isaac take comfort after di death of him mama.
