Genesis 23:1-20 talk about how Abraham buy land from di Hittites to bury Sarah. E purchase di cave of Machpelah in Canaan as burial site.
1. Sarah live reach 127 years before she die for Kiriath-Arba, wey dem dey call Hebron, for di land of Canaan. Abraham cry for her and mourn well well.
2. After e finish to cry for Sarah,
3. Abraham stand up, go meet di Hittites, and talk say,
4. “I be stranger and visitor for una land. I beg, give me land for burial ground so I go fit bury my wife properly.”
5. Di Hittites answer Abraham,
6. “Oga, hear us. You be mighty prince among us. Bury your dead for any of our tombs wey you want. None of us go deny you.”
7. Abraham stand, bow before di Hittites,
8. And say, “If una really wan make I bury my wife here, beg Ephron son of Zohar to sell me di cave of Machpelah wey dey him land.
9. Let him sell am to me for full price, make I get di land as permanent burial place.”
10. Ephron wey dey sit among di Hittites answer Abraham for di hearing of everybody.
11. Ephron talk say, “No, my lord, hear me well. I dey give you di land and di cave wey dey inside am. I give am to you for di presence of my people. Bury your dead.”
12. Abraham bow down again before di people of di land
13. And reply Ephron, “If you go really give me di land, I go pay full price. Accept di money so I fit bury my dead.”
14. Ephron answer Abraham,
15. “My lord, di land worth 400 shekels of silver, but wetin be dat between me and you? Go ahead, bury your dead.”
16. Abraham agree to Ephron price and weigh out 400 shekels of silver, wey dem dey use for trade.
17. So di field of Ephron wey dey Machpelah, near Mamre, di cave and di trees inside di field, become Abraham own as property.
18. Di Hittites confirm am for di presence of everybody wey dey dia.
19. After dat, Abraham bury Sarah, him wife, for di cave wey dey Machpelah, near Mamre (Hebron), for di land of Canaan.
20. Di field and di cave become Abraham permanent property as burial ground from di Hittites.
