Exodus 16:1-36 show how God give Israelites manna and quail for wilderness, provide food for dem every day.
1. For di fifteenth day of di second month, di whole Israelite people come to di Wilderness of Sin, which dey between Elim and di Red Sea.
2. Dem start to grumble against Moses and Aaron.
3. Di Israelites say, "Why we no die for Egypt? Why we no die near di pot of meat, when we dey eat bread full? But now, you bring us to dis wilderness to kill us wit hunger."
4. Di Lord tell Moses, "I go rain bread from heaven for you. Di people go pick di bread every day. I go test dem to see if dem go follow my law or not."
5. "On di sixth day, dey go pick twice as much as they pick on di other days, and prepare it for di sabbath day."
6. So Moses and Aaron tell di Israelites, "In di evening, you go know say na di Lord who bring you out from Egypt, and in di morning you go see his glory."
7. "Because di Lord hear your grumbling, but we no dey grumble against us, na di Lord una dey grumble against."
8. Moses say, "Di Lord go give you meat to eat in di evening and bread in di morning, because he hear your grumbling, and you no dey grumble against us but against di Lord."
9. Moses say to Aaron, "Say to di whole Israelite community, 'Come near before di Lord, for he don hear your grumbling.'"
10. As Aaron speak to di whole Israelite community, dey look toward di wilderness, and behold, di glory of di Lord appeared in di cloud.
11. Di Lord speak to Moses,
12. "I have heard di grumbling of di Israelites. Say to dem: 'At twilight you go eat meat, and in di morning you go be filled with bread, and you go know say I am di Lord your God.'"
13. So at evening, quails come and cover di camp, and in di morning, di manna lay round di camp.
14. When di dew fall on di camp at night, di manna also fall.
15. Di Israelites see it and dey say to one another, "What is dis?" because dey no know what it was. Moses say to dem, "Dis is di bread di Lord has given you to eat."
16. "This is what di Lord has commanded: ‘Everyone gather as much as he need for di day. Each man go gather one omer for each person in his tent.'"
17. Di Israelites do so, dey gather, some gather more, some gather less.
18. When dey measure it by di omer, he who gathered much had nothing left over, and he who gathered little had no lack. Each man gathered according to his need.
19. Moses say to dem, "Let no one leave any of it till di morning."
20. But some of dem no listen to Moses, and dey left part of it till di morning, and it breed worms and stank; and Moses was angry with dem.
21. So dey gathered it every morning, each as much as he needed, and when di sun grew hot, it melted away.
22. On di sixth day, dey gathered twice as much, two omers for each person. And all di leaders of di congregation came and told Moses.
23. Moses say to dem, "This is what di Lord has said: Tomorrow is di rest of di holy sabbath to di Lord. Bake what you will bake today, and boil what you will boil, and lay up for yourselves all dat remains, to be kept till di morning."
24. So dey laid it up till di morning, as Moses commanded, and it did not stink, nor were there any worms in it.
25. Moses say, "Eat it today, for today is a sabbath to di Lord. Today you will not find it in di field."
26. "Six days you shall gather it, but on di seventh day, which is a sabbath, there will be none."
27. On di seventh day some of di people went out to gather, but dey found none.
28. Di Lord said to Moses, "How long will you refuse to keep my commandments and my laws?
29. See, di Lord has given you di sabbath; therefore on di sixth day he gives you bread for two days. Let every man remain in his place; let no man go out of his place on di seventh day."
30. So di people rested on di seventh day.
31. Di house of Israel called its name Manna. It was like coriander seed, white, and di taste of it was like wafers made with honey.
32. Moses say, "This is di thing which di Lord has commanded: Let an omer full of it be kept throughout your generations, that dey may see di bread which I fed you in di wilderness, when I brought you out of di land of Egypt."
33. And Moses said to Aaron, "Take a jar and put an omer of manna in it, and place it before di Lord to be kept throughout your generations."
34. As the Lord commanded Moses, so Aaron placed it before di Testimony, to be kept.
35. Di Israelites ate manna for forty years, until dey came to a habitable land; dey ate manna until dey came to di border of di land of Canaan.
36. Now an omer is a tenth of an ephah.
