Genesis 4 tell di story of Cain and Abel, di first brothers. Cain jealous of Abel’s offering, and in anger, he kill Abel, causing God’s punishment.
1. Adam and Eve come be husband and wife, and Eve come get belle. She born pikin and call am Cain. She say, “Na God help me take born dis pikin.”
2. Later, she born another pikin again, and she call am Abel. Abel become shepherd wey dey take care of sheep, but Cain be farmer wey dey work di ground.
3. One day, Cain bring some of di fruit wey e harvest from di ground as offering give God.
4. Abel too bring offering, but na di best part of di firstborn animals from im flock, and God accept Abel and im offering.
5. But God no accept Cain and im offering, so Cain vex well well, and e face fall.
6. God ask Cain, “Why you dey vex? Why your face fall?
7. If you do well, you go receive acceptance. But if you no do well, sin dey wait for you for door like animal wey wan catch you. But you suppose control am.”
8. Cain tell im brother Abel make dem waka go field. As dem reach dia, Cain rise up and kill Abel.
9. Then God ask Cain, “Where your brother Abel?” Cain answer, “I no know. I be im keeper?”
10. God reply, “Wetim you don do? Di voice of your brother blood dey cry to me from di ground.
11. So now, you go dey cursed from di ground, wey don open mouth to collect your brother blood wey you kill.
12. When you dey work di ground, e no go yield crop for you again. You go become wanderer and vagabond for dis earth.”
13. Cain say to God, “My punishment dey too much for me to carry.
14. Since you don drive me away from di land, I go become wanderer and vagabond. Anybody wey see me go fit kill me.”
15. God say, “No. Anybody wey kill Cain, I go punish am seven times.” God put mark for Cain head so say anybody wey see am no go kill am.
16. So Cain waka go from God presence, and e go live for di land of Nod, wey dey east of Eden.
17. Cain come marry, and e wife born pikin for am. Cain build city, and e name di city after him son, Enoch.
18. Enoch get pikin wey be Irad. Irad get pikin wey be Mehujael. Mehujael born Methushael, and Methushael born Lamech.
19. Lamech marry two wives, di first one na Adah, and di second one na Zillah.
20. Adah born Jabal, wey become father of people wey dey live in tents and raise livestock.
21. Jabal brother name na Jubal; e be di father of all wey dey play harp and flute.
22. Zillah born Tubal-Cain, wey be blacksmith wey dey forge all kinds of bronze and iron tools. Tubal-Cain sister name na Naamah.
23. Lamech talk to im wives, Adah and Zillah, say, “Make una hear my voice; wives of Lamech, listen to my words: I don kill man because e wound me, and young man because e hurt me.
24. If Cain go suffer seven times punishment, Lamech own go be seventy-seven times.”
25. Adam and Eve born another pikin, and Adam call am Seth, because e say, “God don give me another child in place of Abel, wey Cain kill.”
26. Seth too get pikin, and e name am Enosh. At dat time, people begin dey call on di name of God.
